SonTek FlowTracker2 Tow Tank Verification Report
The FlowTracker2 was introduced to the water monitoring community in early 2016 with numerous changes and improvements compared to its predecessor, SonTek’s Original FlowTracker.
The most noticeable of hardware changes were in the handheld itself – with improved graphics and modernized packaging. But there were also changes to the probe assembly, resulting in reduced instrument noise and allowing the user to easily change probes as needed.
This technical report, recently released by SonTek, uses data collected at the USGS Hydrologic Instrumentation Facility (HIF), an industry sanctioned test facility. It works to verify the FlowTracker2’s velocity accuracy and quantify its wading rod flow disturbance, and compares those parameters to the legacy system.
