Sludge is the residual semi-solid material left from industrial, or wastewater treatment processes. The treatment process reduces the water content of the sludge. The basic principal is the cleaner the water is after the sludge is removed, the more toxic the sludge is going to be. The toxicity of the sludge will vary dependent on the source of the waste water.
