PowerProbe 9500-VTR

The 9500-VTR is powered by a liquid-cooled 52 hp diesel engine and includes a 175 ft-lb hydraulic hammer with the option of choosing a different model to meet your specific needs. If you are looking to add hollowstem capability, you have a choice of two auger drive head options. In addition, we have added regen for faster upward travel time for the probe/auger head.

AMS PowerProbe Model 9500-VTR Direct Push Rig

The AMS PowerProbe™ functions as a dual-combination environmental and geotechnical drill rig. This, combined with its dual capabilities of both direct push and Hollowstem augering, assures completion of comprehensive, complex field work. The versatility of the AMS PowerProbe™ and its tooling will be a key factor in your field success.

Direct Push Drilling Technology
Direct Push Drilling Technology (direct push) allows for a wide variety of direct push tooling and instrumentation to be advanced into a subsurface lithology. This is conducted using a combination of the static weight of an AMS direct push drill rig, hydraulic down pressure, and rapid hydraulic hammering. For some direct push techniques, such as Cone Penetration Testing (CPT), rapid hydraulic hammering is not used.

Compared to conventional drilling activities, direct push technology:
• Is less labour intensive.
• Offers quicker setup time.
• Is easier to decontaminate and maintain tooling.
• Generates significantly less drill cuttings.
• Versatility provides investigators with a variety of soil investigation options.

Hollowstem Augering
Conventional hollowstem augering techniques are used to drill boreholes for environmental and geotechnical sampling activities, including lithologic description, chemical analysis, and monitoring well installation. The addition of Hollowstem augering capabilities to the AMS PowerProbe™ has greatly improved efficiency in the field.

Documentation

The AMS PowerProbe 9500-VTR collected samples to 8 feet using the AMS 2 3/8" G3 Advanced tooling at the Nielsen Environmental Field School demonstration. We reached groundwater at 6 feet and switched to demonstrating the AMS 2 3/8" Piston Sampler. (See AMS PowerProbe 9500-VTR Dual Tube 2 and 3).
