Irrigation Metering
Sources of irrigation water can be groundwater extracted from springs or by using wells, surface water withdrawn from rivers, lakes or reservoirs or non-conventional sources like treated wastewater, desalinated water or drainage water. For irrigation systems to be sustainable they require proper management (irrigation water use and soil moisture) and musn’t use more water from their source than is naturally replenished, otherwise the water source becomes, in effect, a non-renewable resource.
